The Balanced FCM, represented pictorially in Figure 4-10, is defined by 3 unique wavelengths according to the mapping: 12 quads in the Northern hemisphere at wavelength 1 denoted in red; 4 quads in the Northern hemisphere and 16 quads in the Southern hemisphere at wavelength 2 represented in red and blue; and 8 quads in the Northern hemisphere and 8 quads in the Southern hemisphere at wavelength 3 shown in blue.
